Passage: Ephesians 5:25-33
After taking a week to allow Paul to address wives, we move to his divinely inspired instructions for husbands. It is interesting that most people who balk at the idea of wives submitting to their husbands are all in favor of the following imperative for husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church. God calls men to an incredibly elevated standard in marriage, a standard that is absolutely impossible to live up to without our understanding and focusing on the gospel and without the Holy Spirit’s enabling work within us. If Christian husbands would simply follow this model of headship and servant leadership, our marriages would be far stronger and an example to the watching world.
