Passage: Ephesians 6:17b
After a lengthy consideration of the defensive armor of the Christian, Paul now moves to the weapon that has both an offensive and defensive use, the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. As Christians, we cannot overestimate the importance of being equipped with God’s Word to stand firm in the the battle against the enemy of our souls. In Scripture, God reveals himself and the truth about the nature of mankind. In Scripture, the faithful promises of God are declared and shown to have their fulfillment in Christ. In Scripture, the good news of Christ is proclaimed, in order for us to believe and to be equipped to share. This sword is our indispensable weapon.
